Meetings

We usually meet on the 3rd Sunday of the month upstairs in the Corner House, the white house at the corner of Lidgett Lane and Harrogate Road - just opposite St Gemma's Hospice in Moortown, Leeds. Alcohol and soft drinks are available from the bar, but it is advisable to bring a packed lunch and coffee with you. There is a Marks and Spencer Food Hall fairly close by if necessary.

12.00: band practice;
1.30: lunch break - bring coffee and sandwiches;
2.00: invited player or workshop.

Smash the Frames!

This year, 2012, is the 200th Anniversary of the Luddite risings in West Yorkshire. One of our members, John Hayward, has devised a presentation, 'Among Those Dark Satanic Mills' with historical narrative, songs and music to commemorate this, and this presentation is to be performed throughout 2012 in various venues, but principally at Cleckheaton Folk Festival. The Yorkshire Concertina Club is a get-together of concertina players from all over Yorkshire. Every concertina player is welcomed, no matter what you play, whether it's Anglo, English, or one of the several systems of Duet - or even the newly-invented Martian Three-Handed System much favoured by octopuses .... ..

Tea break during a meeting

Doesn't matter whether you're an ace or or a beginner, although the ability to read music would be an advantage. Doesn't matter whether you like trad or jazz or classical. Doesn't matter what size you play. You're still welcome, and during the varied sessions we run throughout the year we're sure you'll find something of interest. Have a go on a different type. Learn a tune. Explore a new repertoire.
